SAP Datasphere – July 2025 Feature Highlights

SAP Datasphere continues to evolve, and the July 2025 release delivers new tools that improve integration, monitoring, and usability for both developers and business teams.
This month, my standout features are API tasks in Task Chains and Task Chain notifications — both of which make data workflows more connected and responsive.
1️⃣ API Tasks in Task Chains
You can now embed REST API calls directly into a Task Chain. This allows Datasphere workflows to communicate with external systems without leaving the platform.
What does this mean?
- For developers: Less reliance on external scripts, reduced integration complexity, and the ability to trigger or consume services in a clean, automated flow.
- For business: Faster process execution, reduced manual handoffs, and real-time synchronisation between systems, improving decision-making speed.
2️⃣ Task Chain Notifications
Notifications can now be configured at any step in your Task Chain to send targeted email alerts. This gives teams greater visibility into job execution and potential issues.
What does this mean?
- For developers: Instant feedback on process status, enabling quick troubleshooting without having to constantly monitor dashboards.
- For business: Immediate awareness of delays or failures, allowing faster action to protect SLAs and keep projects on track.
🔹 Other July Enhancements at a Glance
- SFTP as a source – Replicate data directly from SFTP locations.
- Export/import between file spaces – Move artifacts quickly and easily across spaces.
- New task chain layouts – Choose top-to-bottom or left-to-right views for clearer visualisation.
